F-box proteins

F-box proteins
Adapter proteins that are involved in associating proteins with the ubiquitin-driven proteolytic system. The F-box is a motif originally identified within Neurospora crassa negative regulator sulphur controller-2 but subsequently found in a wide variety of proteins including many cell cycle regulatory proteins, though various F-box proteins probably also play a part in regulation of transcription, signal transduction and development. See SCF complexes.
